  • Make sure that the bracelets are charged
  • Prior to each day’s session, plug each bracely into the computer, one at a time, and with the Empatica Manager make sure all data is synced and cleared. If there is nothing to synch, make sure to still click on the small arrow in the bottom left corner and hit “Upload 1 session.” This calibrates the watches to the computer’s internal clock.
  • Prior to running a session, set up each bracelet to begin recording data. From the OFF state, turn each on by pressing the button for 1 to 5 seconds until you see a flashing green light and wait for the light to turn off, transition to red, and then turn off. The bracelet is now in recording mode.
  • Properly place the bracelet on each participant at least 2 minutes before the interaction session is about to begin.
  • Before every conversation, have the participants hold their hands together in front of them as still as possible for 3 seconds. Then, on the count of 3, they need to synchronize a single large clap bringing their hands together in front of them. Have them continue holding their hands together for 3 seconds. Mark the time on the Experimenter Notes log.
  • At the end of the complete interactional session, put bracelets in OFF mode (holding the button for 1 to 5 seconds until the light turns out). Mark the time on the Experimenter Notes log.
  • Transfer the data with the Empatica Manager on the main computer.
